The Truth About Side Hustles

21st of January 2024. Week 1

So Week one started with a massive stocktake of all things in my house and deciding what I wanted to keep, what was good enough to sell, what should be donated and what should be thrown in the bin.
Several Breakdowns later, I had 37 items of clothing a bunch of books and DVD’s and 4 pairs of shoes ready to be listed.

I took my more “expensive” items and got them up first, eBay is a bit more tedious about item specifics when you’re selling things, whilst DePop seems to be more based around the brand and the vibe.
Listing on DePop is significantly faster and easier.
They both seem to push the listings that have 5 or more photos, I am still yet to figure out how to take 5 different photos of a basic graphic T-shirt though.

The very next day I had made my first sale.
I sold a pair of Dollskill Current Mood Pants, they were even missing the chain that was meant to be attached to it. I couldn’t believe it had happened so fast.
I sold them for $20 plus shipping.
Shipping cost me $10.60 and the customer paid $12.50
The pants I actually bought from an opshop the week before for $8 but they didn’t fit me properly. eBay took $4.66 in Fees. So a grand total of $9.20 in Profit.
In that first week I managed to sell another pair of pants(that I also bought from an opshop) two books and a pair of Iron Fist heels.
My total profit for the end of week 1 was $56.32.
