The Truth About Side Hustles

29th of January. Week 2.

Week 2 was when DePop finally kicked off. Which was very exciting because all of DePop’s payments are done through PayPal, so those funds were available instantly. I sold 4 items of clothing for a total profit of $45.44

eBay was a bit slower, I sold 2 items of clothing, two books and 1 DVD for a total profit of $6.44
This profit would have been much higher, but because my funds were still on hold I decided to send one of the books with tracked shipping and I hadn’t factored that cost into the shipping price and ended up loosing money on that sale. If you’re just starting out, I definitely recommend pricing all your shipping with tracked postage until eBay decides to trust you and releases your funds instantly.

This was the week I also joined a bunch of eBay seller Facebook Groups.
There wasn’t too many that I could find that were Australian exclusive, but I found about 3 good ones that have enough Aus. sellers to make it worth while.
I have been in theses groups about 2 weeks now, and I have a bit of a love, hate relationship with them. While I have learnt so much from being in them, there is also a lot of really bad information being given out. I have seen people get their whole eBay account suspended because they took the wrong advice from one of those groups. So please, if you join them, take everything with a grain of salt.

This was also the week I started to realize that almost all of the clothes I was selling I had bought from Op-shops. Now to be fair, I haven’t bought clothes from a retail store for a very long time, my whole wardrobe is basically second hand clothing, but it got me thinking, could I find more things in Op-Shops and sell them for a profit?
Bring on week 3.
