The Truth About Side Hustles

End of Financial Year Review.

So, it is coming up to the end of the financial year in Australia, So I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at my total profit since starting eBay and DePop back in January.

So in the clothing category, I have sold 59 items for a total profit of $819.11
In the books category I have sold 11 items for a total profit of $89.80
In the DVD & video game category I sold 27 Items for a total profit of $202.93
In the shoes category I sold 7 pairs for a total profit of $152.18
And in the Misc category I sold 9 items for a total profit of $159.31
Which gives us a total of $1423.33
I still have $188.19 worth of stock that I bought this year that has not yet sold,
and $37.38 worth of stock I have not yet listed.
So that brings our profit down to $1197.76
I have also spent $103.49 on supplies, like bubble wrap, a printer, a clothing steamer etc.
Which brings out total profit for the first half of the year down to
$1094.27
Which averages to about $182 per month or $45 per week.

To be completely transparent, I did take most of April off after the sudden death of my father. So I wasn’t sourcing new stock, adding new listings or even revamping any of my old listing, which definitely affected the sales.

So if you compare March to April, you can see how big of a difference there is.
This is why consistency on eBay is so important. eBay is an algorithm, and you have to feed that algorithm if you want it to pay out.
May was slightly better than April, but not fantastic, because I was inactive for so long, it took until June to really pick back up.

This is the reality of part time reselling.
$1000 in 6 months.
