The Truth About Side Hustles

💸 How I Made $5,971 on eBay in One Year ðŸ’¸

January 23rd, 2024, was the day I made my very first sale on eBay. Fast forward a year, and I’ve officially hit $5,971 in total sales reselling second-hand goods for profit! 🎉

Here’s the breakdown:

  • eBay Sales: $5,541.53 from 197 items
  • Depop Sales: $430.16 from 17 items (honestly, still figuring Depop out 😂)

At first glance, almost $6,000 sounds amazing, right? But when you factor in the costs—fees, postage, supplies, and stock—the story changes.

🛒 Expenses:

  • eBay & Depop fees: $1,257.61
  • Postage: $1,841.34
  • Store subscription: $301.95
  • Supplies (printer, shipping materials, steamer, etc.): $150
  • Cost of goods: $506.73

When all is said and done, my real profit comes to $1,913.73.

Not bad for a side hustle, but it’s far from the glamorous numbers you might see on social media. And, of course, there’s still tax to pay on this income.

The truth is, reselling isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme, but it’s been an interesting and rewarding way to make extra cash. If you’ve ever thought about diving into reselling, follow me to see how this journey unfolds
