It’s a new year! 2024 is over and it is time to hustle and focus on 2025, but boy did it start out slow. I expected there would be less sales after Christmas. Most people have just spent huge amounts of money on presents and feeding their entire extended family. A lot of people are also on holiday and not scrolling eBay for second-hand clothing.
But I was not expecting to only sell 1 DVD, 1 book, 1 clothing bundle and a pair of shoes. 6 sales in 31 days is not ideal, especially since I am now unemployed.
My total profit for this month was $35.76 with an average of 1 sale per week.
In comparison to December where my average weekly profit was $33.
This obviously needs to change.
I need to get myself organized, stop blaming my broken A/C and heatwave we are going through for not photographing and listing the 50 odd items I have waiting in my office.
So what am I going to do so this doesn’t happen in February? Am I finally going to start listing that doom pile? Of course not, the reason I haven’t listed them is because I know they are going to be slow sellers and low profit.
Nonetheless, I have finally started cleaning and listing the vintage barbies (new in box) we found whilst cleaning out my father in laws garage. I also spent about $350 on a vintage clothing bundle from a wholesaler. This was a risky choice, because I don’t know much about vintage clothing, and I don’t know exactly what I will be receiving. It was a Carhartt, Dickies and women’s Harley Davidson bundle. I know a little bit about Harley stuff, but the other two are going to need a lot of research.
I also have major surgery booked for the middle of Feb and I think I will have to put my store in “time away” mode. As I am unsure if I will be capable of driving during recovery. eBay really hates it if you ship late and my local post office doesn’t presently offer a pick up service.
Time Away mode basically lets your customers know that you are unavailable to ship until a certain date. I have heard mixed reviews on whether or not this affects sales. But I guess we will find out in the February sales update.
