In May of 2024 I downloaded Freecash, an app that claimed to pay you for simply playing mobile games. It sounded too good to be true, but in the first two weeks I managed to make $64, so I figured I would keep going with it.

There are 26 fortnights in a year, so I should have made $1664 by now, but that isn’t what actually happened and there are a couple of reasons why.
Firstly, it wasn’t adding new games very often, so once you have played the high paying games, there isn’t much left to do.
Secondly, a lot of the goals they set for the games are simply unobtainable, unless you spend a bunch of money on boosters, you will never hit the levels in the time frame. Thirdly the ads in the games became too much, you would end up spending more time watching adverts than playing the actual game.
Lastly, the time spent vs pay-out simply isn’t worth it. You pour hours of your day into a game to make $12. I decided my time was best spent elsewhere.
It is okay if you just want to make a couple of dollars, but I can’t endorse this as a legitimate side hustle.
