In May of 2024, I decided to upgrade my horror movie review website to allow Adverts.
I figured, if I am going to be shit posting anyway, I may as well try and make some money off it, right?
Well, I’m here to tell you the truth about how “easy” it is to make money off a blog.

These are the views that my website got in 2024.

This is how many ads were “served” in 2024.

And this is how much I got paid.
Not a single cent.
It did however cost me $110 to upgrade my website to allow ads.
It also cost me $25 for 3 separate Facebook posts promoting my website.

Now I am not saying making money with a blog is impossible. However, it is not as simple as setting up a website, putting ads on it and watching the money roll in.

This year, I have made some changes, done a bunch of research. Really paid attention to the insights that Facebook gives you. Utilizing the “active times” of my followers on different social medias. Making sure I spend at least an hour per day working on each website.
And I have seen a vast improvement.
In January alone, I have almost the same amount of views as last year. I also served more than double the amount of ads.

I am also looking into adding affiliate links to my website this year, but that will take a while, there is a lot of research that I need to do first.
As much as I am doing this for myself to create a stable income, I am also doing this for you. I couldn’t find any of this information when I was first looking into side hustles. No one told me how much work and money is needed to get them off the ground. It is possible my content is a little too niche and if I wrote about something more popular, the views would be a lot more organic. But I think it is important that I write about things I am passionate about.
