The Truth About Side Hustles

13th of July – Weekly Update.

I managed to sell 3 things on Etsy this week, two were handmade items, and one was a print on demand poster. The handmade items got me about $13 profit but I messed up the USD to AUD conversion on the poster and ended up loosing almost $5 on that sale, so that is a mistake I won’t make again.
I also sold 1 Blu-ray for about $3 profit and then 5 items of clothing.

As you can see, My total revenue is significantly higher than last week, but my actual profit is only $8 more, that is because my cost of goods was higher this week. My most profitable item was this Men’s Fur lined Billabong Jacket

Which sold for $50 including postage, but it cost me $12 and the shipping cost me $18 which gave me a net profit of $12.
Honestly writing all this out is disheartening, thinking of all the time spent sourcing, steaming, photographing, inventorying all for just $12. Sometimes it makes me wonder if this is worth it.
But I have to remember why I am doing this, businesses take time to build up and you have to just keep going, even on the hard days.
